Description

Trademarks and service marks protect the names and logos that identify your business. In the Internet age, it is critically important to ensure that others do not trade upon, steal or undermine that business identity. However, many businesses do not take proper steps to protect their trademark and service mark rights, in large part because they do not understand what to protect or how to do it. Federal trademark registration is essential and relatively inexpensive, but for outsiders, that process can be complicated and time-consuming.

In this roundtable discussion , NCHC attorneys Diane Becker, Glenn Dickinson, and Peter Bromaghim will provide critical information about trademark protection, including:

  • The types of marks that can and cannot be protected, and how to select a mark
  • Navigating the registration processes at the U.S. Trademark Office
  • The numerous benefits of registration
  • Avoiding common misconceptions about trademark usage
  • Protecting your mark against misappropriation by others

This will be an informative introduction for those not familiar with trademark law, and an excellent refresher course for others.
