Professional Experience
Prior to attending law school, Laura Withrow worked for the Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce where she obtained a first hand look at the challenges facing business owners. Inspired to make a difference, Laura attended law school with the goal of working with business owners and managers to help them overcome the challenges of operating a business in California.
Laura has been practicing in the area of civil litigation for the past 15 years, with the last 9 years exclusively in the area of employment litigation and advice. Her practice encompasses all aspects of employment law, including wrongful discharge, discrimination and harassment litigation in both state and federal courts, wage and hour claim defense (including representative and class actions), representation of employers in hearings before administrative agencies, management training, and counseling employers on issues relating to employment agreements, commission plans, hirings, firings and other personnel matters. She is also a frequent speaker on employment law topics. Laura has worked on employment matters for small local privately held companies, national and international publicly traded companies, and everything in between including numerous non-profit organizations, financial institutions, hospitality, entertainment, manufacturing, and health care corporations.
Laura is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit, multiple U.S. District Courts, and the Supreme Courts of Massachusetts and California. Laura is a member of the Ventura County Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Labor and Employment Section.
Community
Laura has served as a volunteer team manager for AYSO Region 9 since 2009. She is also an executive board member for the Aspen Elementary School Parent Faculty Association in Thousand Oaks.
Education
Laura is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she participated in the Education Abroad Program in Cambridge, England, and earned a B.A. in Psychology. In 1996, she earned her J.D. from the University of Southern California where she was a three-year recipient of the Douglas Simon Memorial Scholarship.
Personal
Laura grew up in Oak Park, California, and currently lives in Thousand Oaks with her two daughters. She enjoys reading, hiking and spending time with her family and friends.
